Parklands, Kirkby

This project was undertaken by Nadir Khan during his time at Leach Rhodes Walker Architects; acting as the Design and Projects Architect.

The proposal site for this development was located in Kirkby; around 10 minutes drive from Liverpool. The site housed 4 redundant concrete tower blocks, which had become an eyesore and had become a liability for the local council.

The proposal for the development of the site was to refurbish two of the 4 towers blocks, to create 200 residential units, a mix of one, two and three bedrooms units. The remaining two tower blocks were demolished and replaced with 40, two and three bedroom townhouses.

This has been a very successful urban regeneration project, taking existing dilapidated and unused buildings and creating a vibrant residential development.
